To mark The Wright Brothers News’ 2,000th post, we present sixteen photographs by Yusuke F. Taken together, they form a quiet passage through memory: the child we used to be, the seasons that moved on without us, the moment we would give anything to hold still, and the people we learn to carry after they are gone. These photographs do not tell us what to feel. They leave a door open—and invite each of us to step inside with someone we still miss.

There is no single explanation for these images. A figure stands at the edge of the light. A familiar place feels suddenly far away. A silence becomes a memory. The story changes with the person looking at it. Explore more of

CHAPTER 2 | The Seasons That Never Said Goodbye
Seasons never ask permission before they leave. Snow covers the footprints it once held. A hand reaches through the water and finds nothing. Leaves let go. A figure beneath the cherry blossoms grows smaller, then disappears. I used to believe the people I loved would always be there—when I came home, when I called, when I needed somewhere to belong. Then one day, there was a voice I could no longer hear, a chair no one sat in, a hand I could no longer hold. The seasons in these photographs remain exactly where I left them. I am still learning how to miss you without losing myself. And even now, I keep reaching toward what I can no longer touch.

CHAPTER 3 | Stop Time, Now
After I lost you, the seasons kept moving as if nothing had changed. Flowers opened. Festival lights trembled. The wind kept lifting my hair. I was the only one still standing on the road where I had left the words I never said. In these photographs, someone is always caught between staying and leaving, between the life she knows and the life she cannot return to. If I could ask for one thing, it would be this: give me that moment back. Just once. Let time stop now.

CHAPTER 4 | After You
Growing up, I finally understood something I had been too young to see: I never made it this far alone. You stayed beside me on the nights I cried. When I fell, you watched over me without saying a word. You wanted my future to be bright, as if it were your own. Back then, I thought that was simply what ordinary days looked like. I didn’t know it was love. I left so many thank-yous unsaid, and then one day, you were gone. I still want to hear your voice. I still wish I could sit beside you just once more, before I knew that time could take someone away. The loneliness never disappears. I’m only learning how to carry it—to wake up, to laugh, and to keep living without mistaking healing for forgetting. Smiling again doesn’t mean I love you any less. The kindness you gave me will not end here. I will pass it on, one person at a time, so the love you gave me doesn’t end with me. Tomorrow will come without you, but I will meet it carrying everything you gave me. It’s late, but I can finally say it: thank you for loving me.
