The Kanto Festival in Akita is a centuries-old tradition in which lanterns are lit on a pole that is more than 12 meters high and weighs 50 kg and is skillfully manipulated with the forehead and shoulders to pray for a good harvest every August. The fantastic sight attracts even foreigners.
