A clear autumn sky spread above, blue as if paint had been dissolved into it.
On the lawn of the Etchujima Campus of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, trees were turning yellow and red.
Students unfolded chairs on the grass and talked with friends under the midday sun.
Small groups were scattered like islands across the lawn.
In the middle of it all, a woman slowly walked while pushing a red stroller.
The baby looked up at the sky.
White clouds drifted gently with the wind.
Perhaps beyond those clouds continues the “journey of the sky” once dreamed of by the Wright brothers.
The Tokyo sky quietly watches over everyone today.
Note:
In Japan, university campuses often allow people to relax freely on lawns during mild seasons like autumn. This peaceful campus leisure culture is commonly called 「芝生で過ごす時間」.
